Instead of just asking questions in Table topics, give the speakers something different to talk about, give them a picture or an image and ask them a question based on the picture.
One very successful table topics session we had recently involved chindogu. Chindogu is the Japanese art of designing useful but useless inventions. Do a search for “chindogu” images and you will discover a wealth of this beautiful insanity.
Use these images as the talking point for each table topic, ask the audience one of the following questions about the image:
- What is it?
- Persuade me to buy this product ( a great way to see who has the salesman’s patter and who knows how to market a product)
- Your company produces this product, why should I invest in your company ?(to make this even better you can do a “Dragon’s Den” style format to really add an extra challenge)
