Who Are We?

What is Toastmasters?

Toastmasters is all about learning how to become a better speaker.

The idea is that you learn by doing, you get up and practice in a warm, encouraging environment. You learn not only by your mistakes but also by your successes. Knowing what you can do well and improving on your weaknesses are the key to building your public speaking skills.

Who are Utrecht Toastmasters?

Utrecht Toastmasters are ordinary people from all walks of life who share a common goal, to become better public speakers. We have members from not just the Netherlands but from all over the world, Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

We have not only a diversity in cultures but also in skills – teaching and training, improvisation, story-telling and business presentations. It is this diversity that allows us to learn and be creative, teaching our skills and learning others in return.

Utrecht Toastmasters was set up in 2006 and currently has 20-25 members, we meet every first, third (and, when applicable, fifth) Friday of the month, starting at 7:15 p.m. The meeting usually lasts for 2 hours and is a mix of prepared speeches and opportunities for impromptu speaking.

If you want to improve at public speaking or giving presentations then this is the place to be.

Toastmasters International

Utrecht Toastmasters is a chartered member of the worldwide Toastmasters Organization .
Toastmasters is a non-profit training and educational organization, with the objective to enhance its members’ communication, leadership, training and management skills and thus building their self-confidence. At Toastmasters, all members support each other – Toastmasters does not provide paid trainers, teachers or managers. It is the largest and most successful organization of this type in the world with approximately 200,000 members in over 10,000 clubs in 80 countries.
